What Round Table is all about
There's a lot more to life than sitting in
front of the telly. We don't just sit there ! Round Table is a Worldwide organisation, with over 12,000 members
in the UK alone. There are no secret handshakes, no obligations and no
pressure....... just fun, and a sense of involvement.
The "club" motto
is "Fun, Friends, and Fundraising", which sums it up neatly for us in
Largs.
Our "Table" currently has a squad of 11 guys from 26 to 43 years old. Each "Table" varies, and it would be fair to say that we tend to focus a bit more on the social and family events, which have become regular items on our calendar. Most of those who've joined most recently, are relative newcomers to the area, and have used it as a way to join in the community spirit of Largs, and make a lot of new friends.
We have regular social events, outings, speakers and meetings throughout the year. Rumours that we only use these as an excuse to get out the house for a few beers on a regular basis are unfounded, but understandable.
We arrange all these things to suit
ourselves. If someone wants to visit somewhere, or hear a speaker, then
we'll get it arranged. How else could you get to tour the Pulp Mill at
Irvine, or an Aero-Engine Plant at Prestwick.. Nights out at Laserquest,
Go-Karting, Indoor Climbing, Quad-Biking or a Comedy Club are things you
wouldn't tend to try on your own. Nothing is mandatory and everything is
very casual.
Hosting of social nights is done by those who have a big
enough house, and can be bothered to hoover before and after!
We're always looking for more guys to join, which allows us to make more friends, and achieve more for Charity and our Community in the process. Age is limited to between 18 and 45, to ensure the group never gets "stuffy".
